Collaborative Divorce Financial Services
When the Collaborative Divorce Financial Services model is chosen instead of traditional litigation, couples hire attorneys and other professionals to help them through the process of working together to reach a mutually acceptable agreement as to the divorce matters. The Financial Professional assists with the financial matters in the case. Pamela D. Wickes, CPA, CFE, CFF, ABV, has completed the collaborative training necessary to be retained as the Financial Professional on collaborative divorce teams.
The Financial Professional plays an important neutral role in the Collaborative Divorce Financial Services model in that they help the couple make informed decisions on a level playing field and assess the financial implications of various settlement scenarios.
Additionally, a Financial Professional can:
- Identify the couple’s assets and liabilities and associated values;
- Quantify the estimated future expenses of the parties; and
- Provide scenarios as to distribution of the assets and cash flow analysis for spousal and child support considerations.
At times, business valuation and/or investigation of the accuracy of reported income are required in order for the couple to have the information necessary to negotiate the financial aspects of the divorce. Pam has performed these types of services and can appropriately incorporate the results of such analyses and fluently discuss business valuations with the couple. Other services she has provided in matrimonial matters include, settlement negotiations, duplication of income analysis, enhanced earnings calculations related to degrees and licenses, separate property analysis, financial investigations for support modifications, income determination, and other consulting and expert witness services.
Pam has provided services in matrimonial matters since 2004 and is currently a member of the Collaborative Divorce Association of the Capital District, Inc., its practice groups, Collaborative North and Capital Collaborative, as well as International Academy of Collaborative Professionals.
